AOD-9604

Lipolytic GH Fragment (176-191 analogue)

Modified C-terminal fragment of human growth hormone (hGH 177-191) with an added N-terminal tyrosine. Stimulates lipolysis and fat oxidation without the glucose or growth effects of full-length GH in research models.

Mechanism of Action

AOD-9604 is a synthetic analogue of the hGH C-terminal lipolytic domain. It stimulates lipolysis and inhibits lipogenesis via beta3-adrenergic-linked pathways in adipose tissue while, unlike intact GH, leaving IGF-1, glucose tolerance, and longitudinal growth unaffected in research models.

Lipolytic Domain
Reproduces the fat-mobilising C-terminus of growth hormone.
🔬
Beta3-Adrenergic Pathway
Fat oxidation linked to beta3-AR signalling in adipocytes.
🧬
GH-Effect Dissociation
No IGF-1 rise or glucose intolerance in research models.

Research Evidence

DATA = directly reported in cited study · INFERENCE = derived · SPECULATION = hypothesis

Heffernan MA et al. (2001) Endocrinology 142(12)DATA
hGH and AOD-9604 increased fat oxidation and reduced body weight in obese mice; the effect was attenuated in beta3-AR knockouts, with IGF-1 unchanged (DATA).
Ng FM & Bornstein J (1978) Am J Physiol 234(5)DATA
Synthetic C-terminal GH fragments retained the lipolytic activity of intact hGH, dissociated from anabolic effects (DATA).
Mechanistic synthesis · beta3-AR lipolysisDATA
Dissociation of fat oxidation from GH-anabolic effects is the rationale for research interest (INFERENCE).

Research Protocol Reference

For laboratory research use only — not for human or veterinary use.

💧
Reconstitution
Add sterile bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol) slowly against the vial wall. Gently swirl — do not vortex. Allow 5 min for complete dissolution.
🧊
Storage
Store solution-phase at -20°C. Post-reconstitution: maintain at 2–8°C, use within 28 days. Protect from light. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
📐
Administration
SubQ or IM administration in standard research protocols. Insulin syringe recommended for precise dosing. Refer to published literature for compound-specific protocols.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is AOD-9604?
