HCG
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin
Glycoprotein hormone composed of alpha and beta subunits. Acts as a luteinizing-hormone (LH) analogue at the LH/CG receptor, stimulating gonadal steroidogenesis in research models.
Mechanism of Action
hCG is a heterodimeric glycoprotein hormone whose beta-subunit confers specificity for the LH/CG receptor (LHCGR). Receptor activation drives cAMP/PKA signalling and gonadal steroidogenesis (testosterone in Leydig cells; progesterone in luteal cells) in research models. Its long half-life reflects extensive glycosylation.
